It’s been a while since GosuGamers has had any big events in the HoN scene, and with the playing field currently busting with activity from tournaments in every direction, we feel it’s the right time to announce our next big event.
As is already a tradition with other parts of the site, we at GosuGamers will now host our very first GosuCup for Heroes of Newerth, an event that will hopefully lead in a long line of strong and successful events that will bring everyone together to play and/or watch some of the best matches HoN has ever seen!
While more details on the event will be announced soon, we will be giving out some important information.
But before we do, due to past success we are proud to announce that the Gosu4Fun cups will continue to run.
Both next Saturday and the week after (the 12th and 19th of March), we will be hosting two more 5v5 Gosu4Fun cups. These cups follow the same rules as our previous 5v5 cup and will also offer ranking points for those teams that manage to climb to the top four!
Sign-ups for both Gosu4Fun events will start Tuesday and will be announced in a news post with all the information you’ll need.
GosuCup HoN #1
As mentioned before, GosuGamers is announcing our very first GosuCup for Heroes of Newerth! Falling in line with several other major organisations, our event will attempt to bring the best and brightest in the scene together for a series of match-ups of epic proportions in a mad race to win a nice chunk of change.
While more information will be revealed soon, below is an expansive set of facts that you’ll be interested in.
Qualification and Placement
GosuCup HoN #1 will have 16 slots for teams to fill. Eight of these will be reserved for the top 8 teams in the GosuGamers rankings. These will be decided on Saturday the 19th of March, directly after our Gosu4Fun Cup and will be announced the following Sunday. The remaining eight slots will be filled with the winners of the eight qualifier tournaments we will run before the main event (Qualifiers are separated into EU and US tournaments).
Format and Dates
The tournament qualifiers will begin on Saturday, March 26nd and will run for several weeks. Each week will feature one EU qualifier and one US qualifier, both of which will be slotted for 16 teams, with BO1 rounds and a BO3 final to determine who gets to take a seat in the main event. (Although the qualifiers are run on EU and US servers, teams from other regions are free to apply and participate, if they wish to.)
Sign-ups for the first qualifiers are expected to open on Tuesday, March 22nd.
The main event is expected to begin on Saturday, April 23rd and will run for another four weeks. With that in mind, the event grand finals should be taking place on Saturday, May 14th. So mark your calendars and prepare for another round of great matches here at GosuGamers, where we will try our best to provide you with the most entertainment we possibly can!
Rules
As with all events, the GosuCup series must have rules. Our dedicated event crew has taken a good look at the old rules we used for our previous tournaments and have come up with a new and improved set of clear, precise rules that everyone should find agreeable. It’s important that all teams who want to try out for this tournament (or any future tournaments) be fully aware of these new rules, so read them carefully. They can be found
here or by navigating to 'Tournaments' and going to the 'Rules' subsection. (For this tournament, backdooring rules will not be used, so backdooring is allowed.)
