ULFHEDNAR now join the 15 teams that directly qualified for the tournament's Swiss Stage.
Türkiye's ULFHEDNAR has survived the M6 World Championship Wildcard Stage after capping off a dominant run through the stage with a 3-0 sweep over Russia's Insilio in the Wildcard Decider match on Sunday (November 24).
ULFHEDNAR were one of the biggest favourites to come out of the Wildcard Stage, where eight teams fought over the 16th and final spot in the M6 World Championship over four days of competition. The Turkish squad only ended up dropping one game throughout the entire Wildcard.
ULFHEDNAR were seeded into Group A for the Wildcard Group Stage alongside Egypt's Geekay Esports, Laos' Niightmare Esports, and China's DianFengYaoGuai (DFYG). ULFHEDNAR swept Geekay in the opening day of the Wildcard before scoring another 2-0 victory over Niightmare in day two, which pit them against DFYG for the top seed of Group A and a spot in the Wildcard Decider in day three.
ULFHEDNAR continued rolling to start their series versus DFYG by easily winning game one, but the Chinese team was quick to bounce back in game two to force a deciding game three. The series decider was then marred by controversy, when DFYG jungler Liu “zzzed” Chenjian suddenly disconnected 18 minutes in while his team was ahead and found himself deep within enemy lines.
That opening allowed ULFHEDNAR to pull off a 26-minute comeback and knock out DFYG from contention, but not without the Chinese team filing a protest and demanding a rematch. However, the M6 organisers deemed a rematch unnecessary and so the Turkish squad was allowed to prooced to the Wildcard Decider to face Group B top seed Insilio.
Despite Insilio's best efforts, they could do little to stop an ULFHEDNAR squad that had all the momentum in the world from completing the 3-0 series sweep in 52 total minutes of gameplay.
The M6 World Championship will take place from November 21 to December 15 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is split into three distinct phases: the Wildcard Stage from November 21 to 24, the Swiss Stage from November 28 to December 5, and the Knockout Stage from December 7 to 15.
