Inside forty-two minutes, a new era was born when Geek Fam defeated Fnatic Onic in the MPL Indonesia Season 14 playoff.
Geek Fam ID ended the Sky Kings’ quest for five-in-a-row after they defeated them 3-2, ending in a 42-minute struggle and a story of perseverance by the Geeks. Bigetron Alpha continues in MPL Indonesia after dismantling Alter Ego with a 3-0 scoreline.
Alter Ego vs Bigetron Alpha
What could’ve been a great season for Alter Ego was lost in the end with a 3-0 loss to Bigetron Alpha. Every move AE made was answered brilliantly by the red android. Bigetron Alpha’s strategy was simple, zeroing in on Nnael to eliminate all threats starting with him, which the Alter Ego boys tend to do.
Alter Ego must contend with the 5-6th place. Bigetron Alpha will proceed to the next stage where a battle against Team Liquid ID awaits.
Inconsistencies have been the title for their performance across MPL Indonesia Season 14. From losing to the out-of-form EVOS Legends to winning convincingly against the top of the leaderboard, RRQ Hoshi. Aldo, Alter Ego’s coach, believes their style of play has been a big role in their inconsistencies.
“I think it's because of our erratic style of play. If we are in our rhythm, then we can win, but if it’s not, then it is what it is. Maybe that’s why we looked inconsistent.”

Despite that, he said he would probably keep their style of play for next season, although he promised to be more disciplined and more clear-thinking in their execution.
The next match pitted long-time rivals Geek Fam ID and Fnatic Onic on the stage, with two of them trying to eliminate one another and secure the upper-bracket playoff spot against RRQ Hoshi.
Geek Fam ID vs Fnatic ONIC
The bigger news of the day is how Geek Fam ID usurped Fnatic.
Both teams started strong, with Fnatic ONIC playing with Franco to secure the early game and setting up early kills in game 1. Meanwhile, Geek Fam ID got the second game with a strong team-fight-oriented lineup.
However, all hell broke loose when the third game started. Twenty-seven minutes, is all it took for the team to get a victory. Geek Fam ID pounced on Fnatic ONIC’s mistakes at ending the game to secure the match point going into Game 4.
The loss awakened Fnatic ONIC in game 4 as they dismantled every Geek Fam ID’s attempt to mount a comeback. The defending champion ended the game inside 11 minutes.
With both teams now tied up, in Game 5, Geek Fam ID mounted a stern defense against the ravaging hedgehog when they picked Hylos, Tigreal, and Yve to control their opposition. It paid off enormously as their perseverance stopped the Sky Kings’ quest for five-in-a-row and guaranteed a new champion in MPL Indonesia Season 14 after a 42-minute game.
The MPL ID S14 will continue on October 24th, 2024 with an upper bracket playoff series between four teams: Geek Fam ID, RRQ Hoshi, Bigetron Alpha, and Team Liquid ID.
