MPL MY Season 12: Three teams eliminated on Day 1 of the Playoffs

Day 1 of the Playoff stage from the Mobile Legends Professional League in Malaysia got off to an amazing start, but for three teams, this would be as far as they progressed. With three best-of-three elimination series on the cards, a few teams would be missing out on their opportunity to reach M5 and become the champions of MY this season.

Kicking things off would be Team HAQ and MPX NSEA, with the latter experiencing their first ever season in MPL MY after acquiring the spot of Madness Esports. Unfortunately for the team, a poor season saw them finishing in seventh through the Regular Season – before having to face Team HAQ in the first round of the playoffs. In a fairly one-sided series, HAQ blasted through MPNC and moved into the next round, where they faced off against HomeBois.

As one of the strongest teams in MY, HB destroyed HAQ in the final series of Day 1, taking both game victories in a little of 10-minutes each. The once kings of Malaysia were the third team to fall on the day, after TODAK managed to narrowly avoid an early exit at the hands of Team Lunatix. While both teams did not look great in Season 12, the problems within the Lunatix orgaisation were plain to see for some time, and it clearly created the same issues within the Land of Dawn. Even so, making playoffs was a step in the right direction – but was swiftly ended by the Swordfish, who will still need to survive at least one more elimination battle.

Day 2 of the MPL MY Season 12 playoffs kicks off with Red Giant Esports fighting TODAK for a spot in the Upper Bracket semi-final against Team SMG, while the losing team will be the fourth elimination from the tournament. The day continues with two epic Upper Bracket semi-finals before we head into Day 3 and Day 4 over the weekend.
