Over the past weekend we saw Week 5 of the Mobile Legends Professional League Season 11 in the Philippines take place, with some interesting results across the board. For two teams, it seems as though the Regular Season can barely hold them back, while for others, some drastic changes are needed if they want to survive through to playoffs. With only three weeks left before we wave goodbye to two teams, Week 5 definitely saw some possibilities for upsets before the playoffs.
A reversal of fortune
In Week 1 of MPL PH, ECHO and Bren Esports went head-to-head on Day 2, with ECHO taking a splendid 2-0 victory, cruising past their challengers. Since then, both teams have been ahead of the pack, with ECHO dropping their first series in Week 4, while Bren have not faltered again. This past weekend, we saw them both go up against one another again, with a very different result. This time, the series was a hard-fought one, with Bren coming out on top – handing ECHO their second defeat.
This came the day after ECHO proved their brilliance against a frightful Blacklist International, which managed an 11-minute game to keep things interesting. With three weeks left, it seems as though ECHO and Bren have the Regular Season on lockdown for the top of the group, while teams clamber for the remaining spots behind them.
ONIC’s possible comeback
Although they begun their Season 11 run with a big victory over Smart Omega Esports, ONIC Philippines have struggled to really come to terms with many teams in the MPL PH tournament. With that said, the team pulled off a massive victory over the weekend, which could see them rebuild themselves and even reach the playoffs if things go well. Taking down RSG Philippines might be the building blocks that launch ONIC back into a solid position over the next weeks, and maybe they can sneak into the playoffs.
With three weeks still left of MPL PH Season 11’s Regular Season, everything can change, but for now, it definitely seems as though Bren and ECHO are above and beyond the rest of the pack, for the most part. Unfortunately for TNC Pro Team, they seem to be unable to string together victories, and will most likely finish bottom of the standings unless something drastic comes from the final three weeks of games.
