Anyone’s Legend take down CBTC Flying Oyster to advance to Lower Bracket round 3 at MSI 2025

CFO have been eliminated from the competition.

It was another adrenaline-pumped, bloody matchup in Round 2 of the Lower Bracket at the 2025 League of Legends (LoL) Mid-Season Invitational, with two teams fighting for their tournament lives and a chance to inch closer to the finals.

In the end, it was the LPL’s Anyone's Legend (AL) that took down the LCP’s CTBC Flying Oyster (CFO) in four games.

CFO came into the competition as the LCP champions, and went against T1 in a five-game series that nearly ended in an upset against the reigning LoL world champions T1. However, T1 edged out the daring LCP team 3-2. Then in the Lower Bracket Round 1, CFO overpowered LEC’s champions Movistar KOI, bringing them to the Lower Bracket Round 2.

Meanwhile, Anyone’s Legend came into the competition as the LPL champions. They have proven to be a force to be recokoned with after dominating their matchup against FlyQuest, 3-1. However, a five-game slugfest against South Korean powerhouse Gen.G proved to be too much, and they were then dropped them to the lower backet to face CFO.

Here’s how the matches went:

In the first game, both CFO and AL were on equal footing, trading map objectives and scaling their team compositions. Toward the late game, however, AL started picking up the pace and dominating team fights. And after a 35-minute encounter, AL destroyed CFO’s Nexus to win the first game.

For most of the game, it looked like AL had it in the bag, dominating the laning phase and taking out their opponents in the laning phase and in team fights. However, as the game went beyond twenty minutes, CFO found a way back into the game by focusing on objectives while taking high-risk, high-reward fights that allowed them a slight gold lead. However, a crucial fight for the Elder Drake that suddenly turned the tide in CFO’s favour, allowing them to take the Baron and nearly end the game. AL, however, stayed steady and defended their base before taking down another Baron to regain their gold lead. And after a 41-minute encounter, AL destroyed CFO’s Nexus to win the second game and take their team to matchpoint.

Backs against the wall, CFO were unwilling to yield just yet and went for aggressive plays in the early game, fighting tooth and nail for every major objective in the map. Where AL tried to push for more kills, CFO found a trade across the map, keeping their gold lead. A crucial fight for Atakhan in the river occurred where CFO successfully stole buff, with Doggo executing a quadra kill against AL. CFO continued the siege against AL and won every encounter, keeping a decent 5,000 gold lead. But it was a crucial team fight at the base of AL that sealed the deal, after CFO obliterated their opponents and marched down the Nexus turret to win the third game in 33 minutes.

In the fourth game, CFO started strong and confident, taking early kills and map objectives. However, AL clawed their way through every encounter, ensuring the opponent’s gold never went beyond 2,000. However, CFO made a mistake in the fight at the Dragon pit that gave the upper hand to the LPL champions, allowing them to take both the Dragon buff and make their way to the Baron. And after a 29-minute encounter, AL destroyed CFO’s Nexus and won the fourth game and the series.

With their win, Anyone’s Legend will face the winner of the matchup between FlyQuest and Bilibili Gaming at the Lower Bracket Round 3 (Lower Bracket semifinals) on 11 July at 8:00 AM SGT/ 10 July 5:00 PM PST.

Meanwhile, after a historic run that nearly upset super teams, CBTC Flying Oyster finally bow out of the competition in 5th-6th place, taking home US$160,000 in consolation.
