Cloud 9 and LMQ have a game that switches leads several times, and Dignitas beats TSM in a match that was mroe objective based than anyone would have guessed.
The first game of the day was between two powerhouses in North America, LMQ and Cloud 9. The game started quickly with LMQ taking a 3:30dragon, then formulating a dive onto Balls in the toplane to seize a very sizeable advantage. LMQ continues to broaden their lead until Cloud 9 wins two straight dragon fights to get back into a position to win.
After winning a few fights Cloud9 has taken the advantage away from LMQ but overstays to take a tier 2 and lose baron control. LMQ try to burst down baron since C9 has lost control, and C9 contest but LMQ gets the baron and turns to win the teamfight trading 2 members to take out 4 members of C9. After a few back and forths C9 flank LMQ in the top lane winning the teamfight in a 2 for 5 Ace. Shortly afterwards a fight is engaged by LMQ in midlane, but C9 kite back and kill 4 members of LMQ clean then push to win the game.
-The second game of the day was between two teams near the bottom of the standing in Curse and EG. The game started with EG gettins a successful delayed invade and stealing red buff from IWillDominate's jungle. However, after that one advantage the rest of the game was all Curse. EG tried setting up multiple ganks on top lane but they were never successful.
Curse take uncontested dragons and eventually an uncontested baron. Using the baron advantage to shove down mid lane inhibitor turret and then the inhibitor itself. Afterwards, Curse rotated to bot lane and poked at the bottom inhibitor turret when EG made a last ditch engage onto them, but Curse was to far ahead and kited back and aced EG while only losing Voyboy. Shortly afterwards Curse closed out the game to secure 6th place in the standings.
-Complexity fought against CLG in the third game of the day in a battle of David vs Goliath. The game started with an extremely aggressive level one invade by CLG where they dive onto Brokenshard at the tier 2 turret, eventually killing him but putting CLG as a team out of position and complexity collapse on them and kill doublelift. The teams play evenly with clg taking a lead with small objectives and then complexity taking the lead with scattered fights
The game turns on its head when CLG goes for a 2 man baron with Seraph's Jax and Dexter's Elise. After securing the baron CLG gets a pick onto Westrice, putting CLG back in the lead. Shortly afterwards CLG is pressing in toplane with Jax while 3 other members splitpush bottom lane. Jax ends up dieng but CLG takes the bottom inhibitor turret and the inhibitor. Because of the sudden advantage CLG gained they press harder and get two more kills and Jax teleports into the bas and CLG ends in a very quick and decisive manner in what was a close game.
-The final game of the day was a battle between two of the top teams so far in the split in team Dignitas and Team Solo Mid. Both teams start the game passively, and the game was very objective based. Dignitas took small leas off the objectives they took over Team Solo Mid. The first kill of the game came 24minutes in when Dignitas set up a 3 man dive at the tier 2 bottom turret to get a kill on Bjergsen
Not long after the kill onto Bjergsen Dignitas is in midlane trying to get ward coverage for baron when Kiwikid gets caught out and dies almost immedietely, but TSM Gleeb misplays and also dies. However, Dignitas have a positional advantage and start up baron. Thats when TSM contest and Dignitas turn on them killing Amazing and Bjergsen, but Wildturtle deals out tons of damage killing crumbzz and the baron. Dignitas doesnt falter and holds off TSM even while they have baron and Dig engage onto TSM after TSM starts up the next baron killing 4 members and losing none, taking baron, and then storming the TSM base taking all three inhibitors and shortly after taking down the nexus. Dignitas win this long but very exciting game with great teamplay.
