Genshin Impact Version 5.6 brings back Chronicled Wish Banner, here’s who to pull for

The 5.6 Chronicled Wish Banner features tons of returning characters you don’t want to miss.

The second half of Genshin Impact’s Version 5.6 update is almost here, and with it, the return of the Chronicled Wish banner! The banner features a strong lineup of characters for their reruns, some of whom have received an amazing boost in their capabilities thanks to the arrival of Escoffier

If you’re thinking of spending your Primogems on the Chronicled Wish Banner, then we’ve got you covered! We’ll list down the best to worst characters to get, their strengths and weaknesses, and how they’re doing in Genshin Impact’s metagame.

8. Arataki Itto

The one and only oni is back for some fun! Arataki Itto is a Geo character who wields a Claymore, and dishes out massive Geo DMG through his burst. Itto ascends with Defense, and does well with a mono-Geo team consisting of Zhongli, Albedo, and Gorou.

That being said, it’s not recommended to pull for Itto this time around since the meta is shaping up to focus on Hydro and Cryo, which are elements that don’t synergise at all with Itto’s kit.

7. Chiori

Although Chiori is more flexible compared to Arataki Itto, and is considered to be one of the best supports to have ever come out of Genshin Impact, this Geo-aligned, sword-wielding SubDPS ranks low in value for this Chronicled Wish Banner for the same reason as Itto. Chiori works the best in Mono or Double Geo teams to fulfill her requirement of having Geo constructs on field, which doesn’t tend to work as well as we’d want with the Cryo-Hydro meta.

6. Yae Miko

Yae Miko is an Electro Catalyst SubDPS who works well in teams that include Cryo and Hydro, but mainly for other elemental reactions like Electro-charged, and for buffing Physical attacks. Considering her capability, it’s a so-and-so decision; do you want to try out a taser team when Nod-krai comes around, or are you looking for a more Physical DMG route (even though Eula is yet to exit HoYoverse’s vault)?

Nevertheless, Yae does have her strengths when it comes to dishing out massive damage, but it doesn’t seem to shine as much as we’d hoped for when it comes to the current meta.

5. Sangonomiya Kokomi

Sangonomiya Kokomi is a Hydro Catalyst wielder whose role in your gameplay is healer. As a healer, Kokomi is incredibly formidable, and is able to provide massive amounts of healing, good damage, and reliable Hydro application.

If you want to have a character that’s only going to keep your team alive, keep your enemies wet, and occasionally dish out some good damage numbers, Kokomi’s a good choice to round out your team.

That being said, it might be difficult to slot her in a team with Escoffier, as Escoffier can also heal characters, making Kokomi redundant. But if you’re looking to make an additional Cryo-Hydro team, then it’s best to keep Kokomi in your options.

4. Yoimiya

Yoimiya didn’t get much rep when it came to her debut back when Version 2.0 came around, but it looks like she’s finally getting some of the love she deserves thanks to Escoffier!

Although Escoffier shines best in a team that mainly comprises Hydro and Cryo, she also synergises really well with Yoimiya. And considering how Yoimiya is a Pyro Bow wielder, and with Melt still the overpowered reaction that it is, you’re not wanting to miss out on what Yoimiya can offer.

The Spiral Abyss’s lineup has changed from its early days–there are no more hordes of monsters that can overwhelm Yoimiya’s single-target mechanic, so you can definitely go ham with her in your party.

3. Kamisato Ayato

Kamisato Ayato seems to finally have gotten his time to shine thanks to Escoffier’s debut. As a Hydro Sword DPS who can dish out quick and powerful slashes, as well as summon a massive AoE of continuous Hydro application, Ayato previously didn’t have a good enough support unit to let him shine. But with Escoffier coming in to shake things up, his strength is definitely coming through. If you still don’t have him in your party, it doesn’t hurt to pull for him now!

2. Kaedehara Kazuha

It’s never a bad decision to pull for Kazuha, who is touted as one of the, or if not the, best support characters HoYoverse has ever made for Genshin Impact. Kazuha’s Anemo alignment works amazingly with any element in the game (obviously save for Geo) thanks to the Swirl mechanic, and he can buff characters thanks to his kit. If you still don’t have Kazuha in your lineup, then what are you waiting for?

1. Kamisato Ayaka

Yep, if it’s not obvious enough, the most valuable character in this banner lineup is none other than Kamisato Ayaka. Ayaka has proven to be an incredibly powerful character, thanks to her DPS focused Cryo Sword kit that allows her to consistently infuse her attacks with the element. She may have dipped from the meta when it changed to focus on Dendro a while back, but with Hydro and Cryo finally making a re-emergence thanks to Escoffier, she’s gunning to be a formidable unit you’d want for your team compositions.
