Here’s how to build Escoffier in Genshin Impact 5.6, with her best gear and teammates

We’re listing out Escoffier’s best build, gear, and teammates.

Genshin Impact’s Version 5.6 update is right around the corner, and with it comes a new 5-star character in Escoffier!

Known as the former head chef of the illustrious Hotel Debord, Escoffier is a no-nonsense and talented cook with an extremely high standard for food, earning her a reputation as the “demon chef”. But besides being a master in the culinary arts, Escoffier is a formidable Cryo Polearm user, and aligns with the Ousia arkhe.

Escoffier acts as a sub-DPS, and provides off-field Cryo damage while healing her party. Escoffier also has the ability to shred the resistances of her enemies, making her a character you don’t want to miss out on.

Escoffier’s kit explained

Escoffier’s bread and butter is her skill Low-Temperature Cooking. When unleashed, Escoffier activates her Mek, which will follow any current active party member, firing Frosty Parfaits at nearby opponents at intervals to deal Cryo DMG.

At the same time, if Escoffier is active on-field, she will summon a Surging Blade that deals Ousia-aligned area-of-effect Cryo DMG.

Besides its offensive capabilities, Escoffier’s skill also has the ability to net players some tasty dishes in Off=the-Cuff Cookery Mode. Holding the button to activate Escoffier’s Mek will trigger her passive talent Constant Off-the-Cuff Cookery, which will allow the Mek to be placed on-field and absorb elemental attacks. After absorbing enough elemental energy, the Mek will create some unique food that you and your party members can enjoy.

Escoffier’s burst, Scoring Cuts, is pretty simple. She unleashes a wave of AoE Cryo DMG while restoring the hit points of all party members. The HP regained is based on her total Attack values, making Escoffier an ATK-scaling character.

Escoffier’s support capability is further maximised by her passive talents, those being:

  • Better Salivate Than Medicate (1st Ascension Passive)
    • After unleashing her burst, Escoffier will gain the Rehab Diet effect, which will restore the HP of nearby active party members every second based on 138.24% of her ATK.
  • Inspiration-Immersed Seasoning (4th Ascension Passive)
    • If the party consists of 1/2/3/4 Hydro or Cryo characters, Escoffier will decrease both the Hydro and Cryo RES of any opponents affected by her skill or burst by 5%/10%/15%/55% for 12s.

When it comes to ascending Escoffier’s talents, it all depends on how you’re planning to utilise her. If you’re wanting her to take on a more Healer role, go for: Burst -> Skill -> Normal ATK.

But if you’re planning to maximise her SubDPS/Support capabilities, go for: Skill -> Burst -> Normal ATK.

Escoffier’s best gear

When it comes to gear, here are the best options you can give Escoffier:

Artifacts

The best artifact set for Escoffier is the full set of Golden Troupe, which a two-piece that will provide an increase of 20% to Elemental Skill DMG, while a complete four-piece set will yield the following effect: 25% Elemental Skill DMG, and a further 25% increase when equipping character is not on-field.

But if you don’t have a good four-pc set yet, you can make do with a full Blizzard Strayer set, which will provide a 15% Cryo DMG bonus increase at two-pc, and at four-pc will increase the equipping character’s CRIT Rate by 20% when attacking opponents affected by Cryo, and an additional 20% CRIT Rate increase when the opponent is Frozen.

Another set you can try out is a full Noblesse Oblige, which will provide a 20% buff to Escoffier’s Burst DMG at two-pc, and at four-pc will give a 20% increase to your party’s ATK after unleashing a Burst.

Artifact stats you should gun for are: CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK/ATK%, and Energy Recharge.

Weapons

Obviously, Escoffier’s best-in-slot weapon is her five-star signature polearm Symphonist of Scents. But if you’re not too keen on spending your Primogems on the weapon banner, here’s her best alternatives:

  • Calamity Queller (five-star, gacha) - Escoffier’s second-best five-star weapon. Calamity Queller ascends with ATK, and will provide a 12% bonus to all Elemental DMG, as well as a 3.2% ATK increase per second upon unleashing an Elemental Skill to a maximum of six stacks. The ATK increase doubles when character equipping this weapon is not on-field.
  • Staff of Homa (five-star, gacha) - A little hard to work with since Escoffier can heal, but this is more for a Sub-DPS role than a Burst Healer. It ascends with CRIT DMG, increases HP by 20%, and will provide an ATK bonus dependent on 0.8% of Escoffier’s max HP. However, if Escoffier’s HP is below 50%, the ATK bonus is increased by an additional 1% of her max HP.
  • Engulfing Lightning (five-star, gacha) - Ascends with Energy Recharge, but has a passive that provides an ATK increase based on 28% of total ER above 100%.
  • Lumidouce Elegy (five-star, gacha) - This weapon’s only benefit is its 15% ATK increase and its CRIT Rate secondary attribute. Only use this for Escoffier if you’re not wanting to miss out on a five-star Base ATK.
  • Deathmatch (four-star, battlepass) - Provides a 16% ATK and DEF increase when there are at least two opponents in the field, and 24% ATK increase when there’s only one enemy. Ascends with CRIT Rate.

Escoffier’s best teammates

Since Escoffier can only work at her maximum potential with a party consisting of only Cryo and Hydro characters, she’ll only shine the most in team compositions that utilise the Freeze mechanic.

Some teams you can try out should be composed of a combination of these characters:

  • For DPS: Neuvillette, Kamisato Ayaka, Kamisato Ayato, Wriothesley, Ganyu
  • For Hydro support and application: Furina, Yelan, Xingqiu
  • For additional Cryo support: Citlali, Shenhe

Escoffier generally works well in teams that don’t have a complete lineup of her expected elements, so there’s no harm in placing her in teams that focus on Melt, specifically in teams for Mavuika or Arlecchino. However slotting Escoffier in a Hu Tao or Yoimiya team isn’t amiss either.
