After seven seasons and 70 tournaments, there will finally be a two-time winner on the European Poker Tour. The EPT announced a season 7 ending Tournament of Champions freeroll which will take place immediately after the Grand Final in Madrid.
The names of former champions is long and notable; including Liv Boeree, Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier, Toby Lewis, Jake Cody, Patrik Antonius, Ram Vaswani, and Noah Boeken. There have also been a number of big name online pros from North America who earned their first big score across the pond like Jason Mercier, Michael Martin, Michael McDonald, Galen Hall, Harrison Gimbel, Carter Phillips, Aaron Gustavson, Gavin Griffin, and Kevin MacPhee.
The tournament’s prizes include four different EPT passports for Season 8 ranging in value from €50,000 to €25,000 to €15,000 to €10,000. Perhaps with these Passports convincing champs to play.
The tournament will be filmed for television and will stream live on PokerStars.tv. No word yet on the structure of the event and how many champs will be participating. There are still four players in the Tournament of Champions field that haven’t been determined yet, as the winners of this season’s Snowfest, Berlin, San Remo, and Madrid events will all be invited to play as well.
