Marvel Rivals Season 3's new heroes Blade and Phoenix accidentally leaked by Twitch

It looks like players can look forward to Blade’s arrival in Marvel Rivals next season.

NetEase Games’ upcoming third season of Marvel Rivals will feature two new playable characters, although the developer has yet to reveal them officially. However, that hasn’t stopped Twitch from going ahead and revealing these new heroes ahead of time, albeit by accident.

According to a blog post from Twitch, Marvel Rivals Season 3 is titled “The Abyss Awakens” and features new playable heroes Blade and Phoenix.

Marvel Rivals Season 3: Blade and Phoenix confirmed by Twitch

Twitch recently published a blog post to reveal all of the major summer Twitch drops coming for games like Apex Legends, Roblox, and yes, Marvel Rivals. In the post, Twitch included a (now deleted) mention for Marvel Rivals Season 3, confirming its upcoming heroes Phoenix and Blade. The blog post read:

Phoenix and Blade ignite the action in Marvel Rivals Season 3: The Abyss Awakens. Get ready for all-new team-ups, stunning Venomized costumes, and sizzling summer events that will turn up the heat. Don’t miss out–tune in to Marvel Rivals on Twitch for exclusive drops and dive into this epic new chapter!

This might not come as a major surprise for fans who have been paying attention to leaks and speculation surrounding the game’s upcoming heroes. For one thing, NetEase has been teasing fans with Blade’s impending arrival for many months now, with the hero making seemingly random appearances in in-game maps for two seasons in a row. A recent patch removed him from the game’s Wakandan map, signalling that Blade was now on the move.

Saying nothing of leaks, which have pointed to Phoenix (Jean Grey)’s inclusion in Marvel Rivals for some time now, the game has also been introducing numerous cosmetic bundles for its heroes themed after the Phoenix Force. Those cosmetics always seemed a little suspiciously-timed, considering that Jean Grey herself was still missing in-game.

The post also confirms that Marvel Rivals Season 3 is titled the Abyss Awakens, which could be a reference to a somewhat obscure Marvel character named Abyss. Twitch also notes “sizzling summer events that will turn up the heat,” which might be a reference to Marvel Rivals’ long-awaited swimsuit skins.

Marvel Rivals Season 3 launches on 11 July, 2025.
