New Pragmata First Contact trailer confirms 2026 release on PlayStation 5

Pragmata is coming to PlayStation 5, for real this time.

After years of silence and multiple delays, Capcom has officially announced that Pragmata will be launching on PlayStation 5 in 2026. The news arrived during the latest State of Play showcase, along with a new trailer that reaffirmed the game is still in development and very much alive, ending with a cheeky sign-off: “It’s real xD.”

Pragmata was first revealed back in 2020 as one of the earliest PlayStation 5 titles, notable for its cryptic tone, striking visuals, and an astronaut travelling through a futuristic dystopia with a mysterious young girl. That girl, as it turns out, is named Diana, and she’s an android. The game’s protagonist, Hugh, is a spacefarer who must partner with Diana to survive a crumbling lunar station and ultimately return to Earth.

According to game director Cho Yonghee’s statement on the PlayStation Blog, Pragmata is described as “an all-new science fiction adventure with its own unique twist of action and strategy.” The newly revealed trailer offers a short glimpse into that vision, highlighting the dark, haunting stretch of the Moon, tactical gameplay, and the dynamic between the two lead characters.

“It’s been two years since we last talked about the game back in June 2023,” Cho wrote. “And we are super excited to finally share a bit of what we’ve been working on.”

Dual-character gameplay with hacking at its core

Gameplay-wise, Pragmata features a dual-character system, where players control both Hugh and Diana simultaneously. As Cho explained, “Both have their own abilities, and you’ll need to control them both at the same time to overcome the many obstacles you’ll face.” A unique hacking mechanic will be at the heart of its combat system, described as a “two-in-one approach” that sets Pragmata apart from other action titles.

There’s still plenty we don’t know, but Capcom has promised more updates soon. “Stay tuned for more details, as we will delve deeper into the combat experience in the near future!” Cho added. “Everyone here on the development team is working hard to make Pragmata the PS5 game you’ve all been waiting for in 2026.”

Despite its rocky journey, Pragmata is clearly back on track, and after years of waiting, it looks like Capcom’s sci-fi epic might finally land on consoles in the not-so-distant future. It’s also confirmed for release on Steam.
