Elden Ring Nightreign targets solo experience in upcoming patch

Elden Ring: Nightreign Patch 1.02 intends to make the solo player experience better.

Elden Ring: Nightreign got off to a flying start during its launch over the weekend, reaching over 300,000 concurrent players within its first hour. However, the debut also drew a wave of negative reviews due to the absence of key features such as duo support, voice chat, crossplay, and more.

To address early concerns, the developers are focusing first on improving the solo player experience. In a post on the official Elden Ring X (formerly Twitter) account, the team thanked players for jumping into the game on day one and announced that Patch 1.02 will arrive in the first week of June. The update will include “several bug fixes as well as improvements for solo expeditions.”

A follow-up tweet expanded on what to expect. Among the changes, solo expeditions will receive the “Automatic Revival Upon Defeat” effect, allowing one revival per night boss battle. The amount of runes gained will also be increased.

The team once again expressed appreciation for the support and confirmed that more details on additional changes will be shared later this week.

Ahead of Patch 1.02, a scheduled maintenance will be carried out to deploy Patch 1.01.1 on Monday, 2 June. Maintenance will begin at 16:00 SGT (17:00 JST / 01:00 PDT / 10:00 CEST) and is expected to last three hours across all platforms.

Built as a multiplayer-focused evolution of the original 2022 title, Nightreign moves away from the lone journey of the Tarnished, embracing larger-scale co-op and competitive gameplay.

Set in a reimagined version of Limveld—the starting region from the base game—Nightreign introduces a new structure: three-day expeditions where players take on the role of Nightfarers tasked with hunting Nightlords. Each run brings players closer to intense encounters, culminating in a final showdown against the Nightlord itself.
