Nexon announces the official return of old-school MapleStory with Classic World

Global MapleStory announced Classic World, a faithful recreation of its old-school gameplay.

Nexon has announced the official release of MapleStory: Classic World, a faithful recreation of its old-school gameplay during the 20th Anniversary of Global MapleStory. Classic World is designed to recreate the pre-Big Bang era of MapleStory, a time many cherish for its challenging gameplay and tight-knit community.

Nexon also announced that Nemi, the first developer and team leader of early MapleStory, will be the first developer and team leader of early MapleStory. She will be the lead game designer for MapleStory: Classic World to maintain as pure a player experience as possible.

Players can explore iconic locations like Maple Island, complete quests, and engage in party-based adventures. The game retains its signature pixel-art style, evoking a sense of nostalgia while maintaining its timeless appeal.

Classic World also brings several updates to enhance the gaming experience. These include improved graphics, new character customisation options, and a more streamlined user interface, much like Global Maple Story. However, Nexon said that future details regarding Classic World will be shared in the second half of 2025 at the official announcement, which will be made available offline.

MapleStory also gave brief details regarding the 20th Anniversary update. The first update will add a new class called Mo Xuan, who is the reincarnation of Wu Shen, Jianghu's greatest protector. The class features skills that focus on martial arts. The second update will be the Victoria Cup, where Victoria Island will become a sports stadium. The island will feature mini-games such as soccer, racing, and more.

MapleStory: Classic World has launched in multiple regions, including Europe and Asia. The game's developers have also hinted at future updates and events to keep the community engaged and excited.
