Overwatch 2 Season 14 adds a new hero named Hazard and a surprising crossover.
Blizzard Entertainment has dropped a reveal trailer for Overwatch 2 Season 14: Hazard. This season of content adds an all-new playable hero to the game named Hazard, along with a few returning seasonal events and an unexpected crossover with Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender.
And who else would get an Aang skin, if not Overwatch’s own monk Zenyatta?
Overwatch 2 is crossing over with Avatar: The Last Airbender
Overwatch 2 Season 14 is titled Hazard, named after the titular Scottish Tank hero who’s about to make his debut in the roster. Players had a chance to try out Hazard for a limited time in Season 13, and he plays like a cross between Mei and Doomfist. He uses unique crystal formations to shoot or melee enemies, create walls, and rain a torrent of spikes on enemies from above.
The Season 14 reveal trailer also confirms another upcoming Overwatch 2 crossover, this time with the beloved Nickelodeon animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Blizzard hasn’t revealed the exact number of cosmetics included in this collaboration, but we do know that one of them is an Avatar Aang skin for Zenyatta – the game’s robotic Support monk – who is seen in the trailer wearing Aang’s signature air nomad head tattoo.
Another tweet from the official Overwatch Twitter/X account suggests that Venture is being included in this crossover, and it’s easy to guess which character the hero is getting remodelled after. Given their earth-themed abilities and allegations of rock-eating, Venture will likely get a skin themed after the earthbender Toph Beifong.
If Overwatch 2 wants to round out all the elements, it could include a firebender skin for Zuko and a waterbender skin for Katara – but nothing is confirmed as of now. If this event is anything like the game’s last few crossovers with franchises like Transformers, One Punch Man, Cowboy Bebop, and My Hero Academia, it will consist of paid cosmetic bundles in the in-game shop.
Overwatch 2 Season 14 will also feature the return of Winter Wonderland and Lunar New Year as seasonal events as well as a new version of Overwatch 2 Classic. This time, the classic game mode will take players back to ‘Moth meta’, wherein Support hero Mercy practically dominated competitive matches due to her powerful movement and buffing abilities.
Overwatch 2 Season 14 will launch on December 10, 2024.
