Reanimal is a co-op horror game featuring horrific mutated animals.

Little Nightmares creator Tarsier Studios has announced a brand-new horror game, and it’s every bit as spooky as one might expect. The studio’s latest game is titled Reanimal, a co-op horror title that follows a pair of siblings who go through hell to rescue their missing friends and escape an island overrun by gnarly-looking animalistic monsters.

New horror game Reanimal comes from creators of Little Nightmares

Developer Tarsier Studios and publisher THQ Nordic announced a new adventure horror game called Reanimal during Gamescom Opening Night Live this week. Fans of the Little Nightmares games will notice that the developer isn’t straying too far from its roots here, as the new game looks like another tense and atmospheric narrative adventure with familiar aesthetics.

Reanimal’s first trailer focuses more on its horrific monsters and spine-chilling visuals than anything else, but it’s an effective reveal nevertheless. The game’s Steam page describes it as follows:

The original creators of Little Nightmares & Little Nightmares II have returned to take you on a more terrifying journey than ever before. In this co-op horror adventure game, you play as a brother & sister who go through hell to rescue their missing friends. Exploring by boat and on land, you must use your wits to survive, work together to escape the hellish island, and the dark secret that haunts you.

Players will embark on an adventure across an island teeming with monsters, where “the main path is only one part of the fragmented story” and multiple mysterious locations can be discovered. Each of these locations will have “its own story to tell” but the core of the game remains familiar for Little Nightmares fans: broken but resilient children have to fight against tormented monsters to survive in an oppressively dark world.

Fortunately, you won’t have to sit through the game’s spooky visuals alone. While Reanimal can be played solo, Tarsier has confirmed that the game can also be played in local and online co-op with a shared screen.

Reanimal does not have a release date yet, but it will launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
