Ubisoft has dropped 10 minutes of action-packed gameplay from Star Wars Outlaws.
Ubisoft released 10 minutes of gameplay from its upcoming open-world game Star Wars Outlaws during its Ubisoft Forward presentation this week. The video goes over protagonist Kay Vess’ life of crime among the stars, starting with some space travel and ending with a chaotic visit to the iconic hive of scum and villainy, Mos Eisley. We also got a story trailer introducing the game’s many open-world planets.

Breaking down 10 minutes of gameplay for Star Wars Outlaws
Ubisoft’s 10-minute gameplay trailer for Star Wars Outlaws begins with Kay Vess at an arcade cabinet - one of many little minigames scattered throughout this faraway galaxy. She then heads into her ship - a one-of-its-king EML 850 Light Freighter from the Clone Wars - and jets off into space, which introduces us to one of the game’s side-activities: defending random passersby in space from pirate attacks. Defending these ships can help boost Kay’s reputation within certain criminal factions in the game.
Kay proceeds to visit Tatooine, Luke Skywalker’s sandy home world. Ubisoft noted that the planet consists of a few more settlements than Mos Eisley alone, though we expect to visit the crime-ridden town the most during this story campaign. We also see Kay ride her S57 Cardinal speeder bike, which can be modded and called from afar. Sandcrawlers are plentiful in Tatooine’s desert areas, filled with Jawas looking for a good trade.
Kay runs into an outpost situated in Jabba the Hutt’s syndicate territory. If she were in good standing with the Hutts, she could waltz right in - but she isn’t, so she has to sneak in instead. Kay’s partner-in-crime Nix can distract and attack enemies for her, while she stealths around enemies in a base. She discovers that the gun expert she’s looking for is the town sheriff, but is immediately found by enemies and has to shoot her way out.
Thankfully, she can always call in her speeder bike from afar to make a quick getaway. Kay’s blaster can be outfitted to provide different firing modes, such as a power module that fires off a single powerful blast. Kay’s journey ends at the sheriff’s office, who asks for her help to confront the Hutts. The video ends here, but it looks like technical experts like the sheriff will offer Kay new skill upgrades as sidequest rewards.
Breaking down Star Wars Outlaws’ game overview trailer
We also got a better look at the wider galaxy Kay explores in this game in Ubisoft’s new game overview trailer. Ubisoft is bringing the lush jungle planet Akiva to visual life for the first time in this game, as one of the many planets Kay will visit throughout her adventure. We also see more Imperial forces like Stormtroopers and Deathtroopers, proving that the Empire itself will be another faction for Kay to reckon with. Jabba the Hutt will also feature in the game, though one of his missions is sadly locked behind a paywall.
Lando Calrissian will also be present in the game, if only for a cheeky game of Sabacc. The ancient city of Kijimi and savannah moon of Toshara are two more worlds ripe for exploration in this game, leaving us with four total planets revealed for the game thus far.
Star Wars Outlaws launches on August 30 on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Check out more announcements and trailers from Ubisoft Forward 2024 here and Xbox Games Showcase 2024 here.
