The sci-fi shooter Helldivers 2 is looking to, “accelerate and beef up,” post-launch content after its successful PC and Steam launch.

PlayStation Studios’ new sci-fi shooter Helldivers 2 has enjoyed a successful launch week, garnering over 200,000 concurrent players on Steam alone, but its developers aren’t content to rest on their laurels. Developer Arrowhead Game Studios has already put out a notice for new hires to, “accelerate and beef up,” content plans to keep its active player base happy.

Helldivers 2 is shaping up to be a hit

The action-packed PvE shooter Helldivers 2 only launched last week, but it’s already shaping up to be a success for Arrowhead and publisher PlayStation Studios. In an unusual move for the company, PlayStation published Helldivers 2 on PlayStation 5 and PC platforms simultaneously - allowing many more players to get their hands on the game at launch than previous multiplayer console exclusives. It’s become such a success, in fact, that Arrowhead is already seeking new hires to beef up its post-launch content roadmap.

Arrowhead’s CEO Johan Pilestedt tweeted yesterday, “we are going to start looking for more amazing developers that can help us accelerate and beef up our content plans. Jobs will be going up soon, but if you are a senior dev there's always the ‘open application’.” Players seem to be enjoying the game in its current state thanks to its satirical tone and action-packed combat, but many have pointed out a variety of technical issues that need sorting out too.

To its credit, Arrowhead has been delivering patches to the game on a regular basis, fixing issues with logins, rewards and more to assuage player complaints. It looks like the company is also looking to the future, as it hires more staff to speed up future content updates and keep players happy. A post-launch roadmap is already on the way, so we’ll find out what those updates look like soon.
