WBG.XG's tournament key and dreams crushed by BetBoom Team at Riyadh Masters

BetBoom's synergy and momentum cut Xtreme Gaming's Riyadh Masters 2024 run short with a 7/8th place finish. 

Riyadh Masters 2024 kicks off the weekend with three elimination series. The first of which pitted two very consistent LAN teams to go head-to-head. Weibo.Xtreme Gaming and BetBoom Team both secured direct invites to The International 2024 and have been using Riyadh as a test run for some ideas.

BetBoom went with a first pick Doom in the first match of the series. We have seen them pick it against LGD in their last elimination series with success but Xtreme Gaming had the wombo-combo with vacuum, burrowstrike, and snapfire follow-up. In fact, their coach came out after the draft incredibly confident saying ‘if we drafted it, we can play it’ – but it would be words to eat later. Early beautiful rotations from XBG weren't enough to secure them any lead. The team fight execution from BB was fantastic and target prioritization was on spot. Every time Wang "Ame" Chunyu showed up he was doomed and essentially useless. The explosive team fights allowed BB to open the game for the win.  

The second game saw Xtreme ban Tiny, Chen, and Doom in the first phase. Their draft itself went for damage control and good lanes – but would it be enough to keep them in the tournament? Initially, it seemed like it might be so, but not quite. The itemization, the timings and the team fight execution coming out of BB Team once again was incredible. It only took one fight for BB Team to turn things and quickly run through the fights and game. 

WBG.XG's journey at Riyadh Masters 2024 ends in 7-8th place with $200,000 in their pockets and with TorontoTokyo crushing their tournament medal.

BetBoom will continue in the lower brackets to face off against Tundra later today. They have secured at least a top 6 placement.

The action continues today with two more elimination series in the lower brackets.
