Exactly two months after he joined LGD Gaming, Zhou "Emo" Yi has been moved to inactive status and replaced with another mid lane player.
Emo has played only one qualifier leg with LGD Gaming since November 28, 2023, when he joined the organisation. He arrived at LGD in the post TI12 shuffle, when the team was fresh off a third place finish at the most important tournament of the year. But despite his and the team’s stellar results in the past, the new year started with a setback. LGD Gaming fell short of a qualifier spot at the $1,000,000 DreamLeague Season 22. The Chinese regional qualifiers for DL were the only official matches that Emo got to play with LGD. They lost the battle in the lower bracket finals to G2.iG, who took them down 2-1 to secure their presence at the upcoming tournament.
While the team is directly invited to BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 and Games of Future, two upcoming LAN tournaments that each boast a one million dollar prize pool, LGD have their eyes set on ESL One Birmingham 2024 as well. However, for that, they need to go through qualifier rounds.
Ahead of their first series in the ESL One Birmingham Chinese closed qualifiers, LGD Gaming have thanked emo for his time with the team and announced his replacement.
“From Today Emo will be put into our inactive squad. We want to thank you for the past few months. All the Best & Good Luck to your next journey,” posted LGD on their social media channels, and announced Gao "Setsu" Zhenxiong had joined the squad.
