ESL One will be organizing the Spring Major, which technically will be the first Major of the 2022 Dota Pro Circuit and the first Dota 2 tournament to welcome a live audience in over two years.
According to the official announcement made by the organizers, ESL One Stockholm Major will unfold May 12-22 and will open the doors for the crowd for the final three days in the playoffs, May 20-22. The playoffs will take place at Hovet Arena, located right next to Avicii Arena, which should have been the venue for TI10 last year, before it was moved to Bucharest, Romania.
A total of 18 teams will earn a place at the Stockholm Major via Spring Tour regional leagues and will fight for a share of the $500,000 prize pool and 3530 DPC points.
Fans around the world who plan to witness the action live from the Hovet Arena should prepare for ticket sales to open this week, on Thursday, February 17 at 17:00 CET. Tickets will be available via ELS one official website, HERE.
Prices are ranging from 299 Swedish Krona (SEK), which is about $32 for a single day ticket, to 899 SEK (~$97) for a three days ticket, and 1999 SEK (~$215) for a three day premium ticket that grants floor seating, right in front of the stage, an exclusive premium badge and an exclusive goodie back.
ESL One should have been the host of the first Major canceled back in 2020, when coronavirus hit the world. Los Angeles Major became back then the first in a long list of canceled Dota 2 tournaments and since then, no event was able to welcome fans to a venue. The last LAN held for Dota 2 was The International 10, back in October 2021. Unfortunately, although it was initially planned to have a live audience, the coronavirus development in Bucharest, Romania right before the event forced Valve to refund all tickets and run the biggest Dota 2 tournament in an empty stadium.
Hopefully, the ESL One Stockholm Major will truly become the first Dota 2 tournament in two years to welcome fans to the arena!
