Arkosh Gaming and Black N Yellow ended up as the bottom two teams in Div I of the NA DPC League, and will have to play their trade in Div II next season.
In what is an anti-climactic end to the DPC season due to the uncertainty over whether the first DPC Major will happen, there is certainty at one side of the table – the relegation zone. The bottom two teams of Division I of all regional DPC Leagues will take the plunge to Division II, and in North America, those two teams will be Arkosh Gaming and Black N Yellow. After all seven series were played, both teams ended up with scores of 1-6, with the sixth team on a score of 2-5, which ensured no tiebreakers would be required to decided who would be relegated.
The table toppers are Quincy Crew, who ended up with a score of 6-1 after dropping their final series against Evil Geniuses. In case the DPC Major does end up taking place, a tiebreaker will be needed between EG and Undying to decide the second NA team going to the Major.
Arkosh Gaming have been a team making a lot of news in the North American Dota 2 region. GosuGamers took a deep dive into whether Arkosh are the protagonists or antagonists of NA. The team underwent a couple of roster changes this season, and also ended up incurring penalties because they weren’t complying with the rule of having majority of the players residing in the region. How could they, when three of them are a part of the EU DPC talent?! Unsurprisingly, Arkosh couldn’t cope with the competition offered by Division I, and were able to win only two games – not series, games – which were the two games they won against Black N Yellow. For a team that always spams ‘AWAKEN’, they sure seem to have fallen asleep during this season.
Black N Yellow is a bit of a strange story. They were able to win just one series, that came against Evil Geniuses! Granted that EG were still figuring out the best playstyle for their new roster back then, but taking down the most dominant team of the region is no small feat. One would have thought that would give them confidence to take down other teams in the league, but that wasn’t the case. To their credit though, BnY were able to take one game off the other prominent teams in the region like Quincy Crew and 4Zoomers. BnY have been a part of Division I in the first three DPC seasons, and will be entering the depths of Division II for the first time.
One of the teams that will replace the two relegated teams will be The Cut, which was a team that was previously in Division I. The other team is yet to be decided, and a tiebreaker will be needed to make that decision.
