Two more teams bid an early farewell to ONE Dota 2 Singapore World Pro Invitational playoffs as the main event continues through the weekend.
Starting out with an all CIS brawl, Virtus.pro proved to be the better of the two as they overpowered in a clean 2:0 sweep. VP were able to shut down Na'Vi's cores early on in the first game and then completely dismantled them for the win. In the second game, it was more of the same story.
TNC Predator and Vici Gaming was a hyped match up that lived up to the expectations. Not only did it go to a full three-game series, the first at the event so far, it also boasted a 65-minute game which is the longest on record for the tournament now. With that opening game, TNC took the early advantage and many wondered if the SEA would shut down the Chinese team in the same way they did just a few weeks ago for the championship title at MDL Chengdu Major. But VG had learned a few things since then and came back for the reverse sweep, striking down TNC with two heavily one-sided victories after that.
Na'Vi and TNC were sent packing with a 7-8th place finish and some things to think about before their next appearances at the DPC events next month.
Evil Geniuses, on the other hand, are playing some superb games and taking their run at the event serious. In two 23-minute games, the NA giants shut down Gambit without even batting an eye. Map movements, drafts and team coordination have been on point for EG and they become the first grand finalists of the event. Gambit will need to overpower their next opponents if they want to seek out revenge in the grand finals and take home their first title and trophy of the season.
The action resumes tomorrow, December 21st at 04:00 CET with three lower bracket elimination series.
