It's 2018 but Invictus Gaming has just claimed the title and trophy for WCA 2017 after a 2:0 sweep over FTD.

WCA 2017 may be a little late to the LAN finals and not have any shiny DPC points to award participants, but the tournament was a success for Invictus Gaming nonetheless. The once Chinese titans have fallen from grace during the course of the 2017-2018 season. Since TI7, the team has appeared in only four LANs —DAC 2018 being the only one within the Pro Circuit, and all four being held in China. This was their first title of the season and a much-needed boost to their momentum heading into what would be the preparation time for TI8.

At the De Han Hotel in Zhuhai, China over the last two days iG had a flawless journey through the brackets, sweeping over all of their opponents with relative ease. While they were considered the favorites of the event, the team did face some formidable opponents who they overpowered fairly quickly.

FTD will take a commendable second place, while the one-time reunification of Planet Dog won the third place decider against Fate eSports, taking home almost $8,000 in their pockets for the show.
