As the eighth and final qualifier for the Esportal League draws closer, it seems like Esportal has decided that they are not going with the original plan of hosting a LAN finals for the event.
Announced in November 2014, the Esportal League promised eight qualifiers followed by a LAN finals to be held in March, however, they were unable to schedule the eight qualifiers before March and delayed the LAN finals. Now, with the eighth and final qualifiers drawing closer, Esportal seem to have decided that the finals will be played out online instead of a LAN event, presumably due scheduling issue with other LANS; the Mars Dota2 League, MLG and Dream League will all be taking place next month, the ideal time for Esportal's LAN final.
Although no statement has been released by Esportal and nothing is confirmed, a strong case can be built for the LAN finals being dropped with Esportal's official website indicating that 'The 1st place team from each above qualifier claims a spot in the online Grand Finals.'. In addition, the dates for the online finals were included, the finals are scheduled for the 25th of June to the 5th of July.
The Esportal League is an Europe based tournament consisting of eight teams that qualify from the various qualifiers between November last year and now, it features a total prize pool of about $125,000 split between the qualifiers and the main event; the main event has a $64,000 spilt of the prize pool.
