Two time runners-up in Dota 2 Champions League, Cloud9, have pulled out of season 3 that has just begun citing scheduling conflicts.
Cloud9 have withdrawn their participating from third season of Dota 2 Champions League due to their tight tournament schedule in the coming month. Cloud9 has previously managed to reach the finals in both seasons, but have faltered in the last stage to Alliance and Natus Vincere in season 1 and 2, respectively.
Replacing them in the third season will be the American team, Evil Geniuses, who have had a successful run so far in tournaments. They recently placed a respectable 3rd in StarLadderTV StarSeries IX LAN finals in Kiev, Ukraine where they lost out to Team Empire in the loser bracket finals.
Besides Monster Energy Invitational, EG also emerged victorious in joinDOTA League America last night against fellow Americans, Team Liquid. EG will make its season 3 debut against Team Relax tomorrow at 20:00 CEST.
D2CL's product manager, Artem Bykov, issued the following statement:
It's sad to admit, but our two-time finalists will not be able to participate in new season. We understand that teams have really tight schedules and respect the decision of Cloud 9 management. Without any doubt, Evil Geniuses are in great shape and are a worthy substitution for Cloud 9.
