First half of MPGL SEA Regionals finished, new champions emerge

The GMPGL SEA regionals for Malaysia, Indonesia and Rest-of-SEA is over, with new teams taking the title this month. There are still two more regional tournaments, one for Thailand and the other for Myanmar, to be held next week.

The veteran team in Zero Latitude is emerging as one of the teams to watch out for in the Southeast-Asian region. They comfortably took Indonesia's title against A[G], winning the championship match in straight games ending in an average of just 22 minutes. Aside from winning this, zL also eliminated last month's champion Joenet in the semifinals.

The Singaporean teams once again take control in the Rest-of-SEA qualifiers, but this time two of today's most established teams went at it. Despite their brewing rivalry, it was again Scythe who got the better of First Departure after a hard-fought three-game series. It was actually FD who drew first blood, but Scythe managed to claim the last two games to also win this month's regional title.

Another heavyweight match-up took place in the Malaysian local tournament, wherein last month's champion Titan competed against Arrow Gaming. Titan was fresh off a 2-0 win over Arrow just several hours ago to claim the joinDOTA league title, but Arrow was undeterred. the latter actually managed to win their match-up with the score of 2-1 in a well-contested series.

The Champion team in each qualifier will get $400, while the second and third placed teams will get $200 and $100 respectively. Aside from that cash prize, the first up to the eighth ranked teams will also be getting a specific number of points depending on how well they finished. The teams with the highest accumulated points at the end of the season will also receive gaming hardware, and they will also have a chance to represent their county in the finals to be held this November.

All qualifiers are supposedly scheduled to be played within a weekend. However, Thailand's and Myamnar's were pushed a week back because of the Water Festival, localised to the region. The national qualifiers for these two countries will be held this coming 19-20 April.
