The memory of Cyfer

The Polish Starcraft community organized a show match versus the Swedish National Team, in the memory of their lost team member Seweryn "Cyfer" Ambroziak. Seweryn, 22, was lost in a heart attack the 7th May 2004.

"How could I describe Seweryn Ambroziak? I have only one thought. What exactly? Extraordinary. He wasn't just somebody; Sewa was much more than a simple person. He had something what can't be explained by words. It was a pleasure to be a member of the same clan as he was. I make much of teammates, and it is too bad that he's not with us. He should be here to favor us because of his presence."
- Cyru, friend and leader of Team Cyfer

[s]event[/s]Last weekend, Team Sweden and Team Cyfer meet up on Battle.net to play the friendly show match we had agreed on. We chose to use the new standard for national wars, using four 1on1s and only one 2on2. Team Cyfer, consisting of hand picked Polish community members and friends of Cyfer, versus Team Sweden, who were proud to present our new member Sweden DaZe.

Since Sweden TreK was at the moment participating in the » dlGamer tournament, his fellow room-mate Sweden Xodiac jumped in on his spot. He was defeated by Poland Bobol, two games to one.

Poland Circuit impressed and gave Sweden KaaZ his first loss in the team and beat him two games to one. Sweden WhiZ and Sweden DaZe, on the other hand, impressed as well and both played out their Terran opponents two - nil.

The result after the 1on1s was two-two and it all came down to the final 2on2. KaaZ and DaZe, being rather new team mates for 2on2 were facing Russia MiF and Poland Floe, both experienced 2on2 partners. First out was Dhalia of Jungle and the Swedes went double Zerg versus double Terran. It was a very interesting and close battle which after about 15 minutes of fighting, looked as though it was in the hands of the Swedes. Nevertheless, after good defence by Floe and a badly timed attack from the Zergs, it all turned into a win for Floe and MiF. One or two more games, that was the question...

Second map was Martian Cross and after some rushing and intensive microing, the results were one-one and the final game was about to be played.

Gorky Island - Zerg & Terran versus Zerg & Terran. Sweden KaaZ and Sweden DaZe attacked Floe (upper-left) with mutalisks and goliaths quite early and went for a fast finish. KaaZ accidentally built a sunken colony instead of what was intended to be a spore colony, but managed fine anyway. He was not attacked in his own base since both Floe and MiF were busy defending Floe's main base. After some more fighting upper-left, one of the observers says "gg" and leaves the game - even though the match might not have been over. A sad smiley followed by the players (due to the fact that observers should never ever disturb the game play) and thereafter both Team Cyfer members left the game.

I, on behalf of GosuGamers and Team Sweden, thank Team Cyfer for the show match and send our prayers and support to Seweryn and his family.

Due to the nature of this subject, we implore our readers to show the utmost respect in their reply posts.
