Flash vs BackHo showdown on Sunday

After a long and entertaining tournament so far, 128 contestants have been whittled down to 3. Jaedong is already set for the finals, but who will be his opponent, Flash or BackHo? On Sunday this will be decided!

The conclusion of the first season of the Avaratec-Intel Classic is approaching rapidly, with only two matches remaining at this point in time. The second semi finals game will offer up some old fashioned TvP action, courtesy of the wonder kid Flash and Lecaf's BackHo. Let's take a look at each player and the path they lined with victims on their way to this point.

The Path of Flash

Winner of the GSI earlier this year, Flash has been a favorite to take home this tournament since it began. Being seeded into the round of 64, Flash began with tackling the young zerg Juni, which proved to be an especially entertaining series with some innovative play by Juni. Flash wrapped up the match with a 2-1 win and moved on to face off against HiyA, a terran player. HiyA was swiftly dispatched without winning a single game and Flash was suddenly up against his teammate Lucifer in the Ro16. This was not a problem at all for Flash, who defeated him handily. Memory was next in line, another terran player. After a brilliant display of micro in one game and two long macro games, Flash is where he is now.

Having recently been eliminated from the MSL, Flash has had the opportunity to practice for this match exclusively. He is without a doubt the stronger of the two players and the favorite to reach the finals by a rather large margin. Flash has however dropped games to players who were considered inferior in the past, and he isn't in the same shape he was when he defeated Stork in the GSI either. It is rather safe to say though that if the Flash we're used to seeing makes an appearance on sunday, BackHo is in for a world of hurt.

The Path of BackHo

BackHo's rise to the semis began with a victory against Hery in the round of 64, propelling him towards his next opponent, Goojila. Now, Goojila might not ring any bells, but his other name, Kal, probably will. BackHo bowled him over in two straight games, securing his place in the Ro16. GanZi faced him there but was swiftly dispatched. Upsetting Stork fans everywhere, BackHo took down a shaky Stork with a DT rush followed up by a more straight up win on Blue Storm.

BackHo being where he is now comes as a surprise, it must be said. BackHo has been quite unimpressive when it comes to stats, but despite this he's the guy who eliminated Jaedong from the OSL and managed to make it to the semi finals before July put a stop to that. This kid beat Much and JangBi in addition to Jaedong to pull off this feat, so it's not an impossibility for him to bring down Flash this Sunday either. BackHo has also been able to train exclusively for this particular game, so expect him to be well prepared when the time comes.

The maps that will be played are, in order:

Colosseum - Othello - Hill of Storm (Wuthering Heights) - Blue Storm - Colosseum

As usual the games will be casted live by Nick "Tasteless" Plott and will begin at 18:00 KST. Tune in to the GomTV website to watch the games, as they should prove quite entertaining!
