MLG and DreamHack with collaborating events

The hot out of the oven announcement on Majorleaguegaming.com says that a link has been established between the upcoming DreamHack EIZO Open Stockholm and MLG's Spring Arena #2.

Two major tournaments are hitting the streams this weekend. DreamHack EIZO Open Stockholm (April 21-22) - the first DreamHack event for 2012 - is gathering 128 players in the Swedish capital to battle out for more than $22,000 and seeds for the grand finals at DreamHack Winter. Almost a complete opposite to the European event, MLG Spring Arena #1 is having just the best eight from the Winter Championship and $10,900 to be divided among the top four.

Instead of being two completely separate and independent rivaling events, however, MLG and DreamHack have agreed on a collaboration that will tie DreamHack Stockholm and the MLG Spring Season. The winner of the tournament in Sweden will qualify for Spring Arena #2 and receive fully paid trip to New York City where the event will be hosted. MLG will be extending that player one of the European qualifying spots from the upcoming MLG Invite-Only Online Qualifier.

The stakes at Spring Arena #2 are even higher than those at Arena #1. Aside from the $26,400 prize pool, on the line are twelve pool play seeds for the Spring Championship that will close the season in June 8-10.
