GSL Open S3 Qualifiers Day 1 - Moon, Jinro and Haypro Qualify

Day 1 of the GSL Open S3 Qualifiers are over and already two foreigners have made it into the Round of 64

Liquid'HayprO and Liquid'Jinro are the first foreigners through to the round of 64 in Season 3 of the GSL Open. Other foreigners that played along side them on Day 1, but did not qualify include iNcontroL, KiWiKaKi, Torch, Artosis. All four of them made it to the semi-finals and found themselves only one match from qualifying before getting knocked out. EG.iNcontrol lost a 1:2 to annyungPrime of Korea in what was described as a very competitive match up by a GOMTV report.

HayprO with Artosis

Not a huge fan favourite
In a post-qualifier interview with Artosis, HayprO was asked if he had seen a recent poll conducted on the TeamLiquid.net site that asked who they thought had the best chances of qualifying. He said that he had seen the poll and said that it was hard to compete with HuK and ret as they both have their own large fan bases, 'I didn't expect to get so many percentages anyways, but one percentage was a bit too low maybe.' HayprO was the first of all the foreigners to qualify.

First of his kind
Today was also a day of firsts. It's not just a first for the two foreigners who qualified, but also a first for a Random player. GuMihofOu of Korea is the first Random player to make it into the Round of 64 in the history of the GSL. This was also a first for the popular WarCraft 3 player Moon. Qualifying under the name Liberty in Group B, he was able to secure a spot in the Round of 64.
