Ex-progamers as pokerstars

Article made by Sweden orka, redesigned and updated by Raistlin:

So whats up with Grrr..., ElkY and Tillerman?
With most (non-korean) well-known gamers having fled the bewildering Korean Starcraft scene and in retrospect being thrown into the vivid world of Poker it seems we have either lost interest in their dealings, or are apt to find information.

Do not despair, for apparently the second largest poker site in the world, PokerStars just recently in January (obviously not up to date, no bickering whatsoever) what they called the "Pro-Gamer Challenge". The scope was an online game of No Limit Texas Hold'Em in which nine ex-proffesional gamers were invited to hone their pokerskills and obviously rake in some hot cash and whatnot.

PokerStars spokesperson Conrad Brunner commented the event: "More and more professional gamers are using their skills to become very serious poker players and the nine players in the PokerStars 'Pro-Gamer Challenge' are no exception,"

elky.gifWinner of the days event was none other than Betrand Grospellier. That would be the Terran ex-progamer France ElkY (picture) to us, and his prize was a free entry and hotel accommodation to the 2000 Euro tournament at the European Poker Tour; lock, stock and two smocking barrels.

"These guys are already champions in their fields, and what's interesting to us is that they are able to transfer these skills - focus, speed of thought, competitiveness, coolness under pressure - to the poker table. They are pretty awesome poker players..." says Conrad Brunner, clearly really amazed what the progaming scene brought the poker scene.
