Remi leaves LA Renegades

Not every player is built to withstand the pressures that come with being a professional eSports player. With a heavy heart, Maria “Remi” Creveling says farewell to the LA Renegades and professional League of Legends. Her replacement will be Nickolas “Hakuho” Surgent.

After a very rough start to the North American League Championship Series, things continue to crumble for the LA Renegades. The team’s loyal support, Remi, has decided to leave professional LoL due to her personal anxiety making her own life difficult and holding things back for her team.

Remi joined REN back in mid 2015, when the team was still known as Misfits and were trying to make it in the NA Challenger Series. Remi, given the nickname Mad Wife for her spectacular plays on Thresh, was a core component in helping the team achieve 1st place in the NACS summer split, qualifying the team for the LCS.

Things began to go down hill for REN when the LCS began. Visa issues made it so the team’s Attack Damage Carry, Aleš “Freeze” Kn?žínek, would forcibly sit out of 3 games, leading REN to a 1-5 score by the end of Week 3. It was apparent on stage that Remi’s nerves had gotten the best of her, as her play against these higher caliber teams suffered.

Unable to take the pressure any longer, Remi will now be pursuing another career path. REN announced her replacement will be Hakuho, a rather unknown Challenger level player. Remi’s impact will continue to live on, as being the first female player in the LCS has made her one the most noteworthy figures to enter the NA LCS in some time.

The LA Renegades will surely have their work cut out for them. With only days to practice with a new support, they will be going against veteran teams Team SoloMid and Cloud 9 in the same weekend. Stay tuned to week 4 of the LCS to see the exciting results.
