China's LPL will conduct a short promotion to determine the last two spots in their 2014 Spring season.
Similar to the European and North American LCS, the top six teams of LPL Summer were gauranteed a spot in the Spring season of 2014, but the bottom two were sent to the promotion where they will have to earn their spots. In addition, the Tencent Games Arena Winter Grand Prix 2013 whittled down twenty eight teams until two made it to the finals to receive a place in the Spring Promotion.
The "Heroes Union" announced this tournament would be conducted on December 31st. The format will be Round Robin best of ones with the top two teams gaining a spot in the 2014 Spring LPL. The competitors will be Energy Pacemaker HK and Young Glory from the 2013 LPL Summer season and LGD Gaming and Vici Gaming from the TGA Grand Prix.
The six teams who obtained spots into the 2014 LPL Spring season by placing in the top six in 2013 LPL Summer are OMG, Royal Club Huang Zu, Positive Energy, Team World Elite, invictus Gaming, and LMQ Tian Ci. With LMQ Tian Ci moving over to North America to become LMQ iBuyPower, it is unclear whether the organization will obtain a new roster and hold their spot or the third top placing promotion team will enter the LPL.
Details on which match will be played first and at what time have yet to be released.
