As the melee map community grows, it gets more and more exposure. BroodWarMaps.Net organized yet another showmatch in order to experiment with new maps, different games and an improvisational play style.
This time it was between oG)zoxxer and xOr.GaNg[FP]. But the most important part was the maps used. These were:
(2)Goddess of Day by Spitfire (4)Temple of Eden by Listoric (4)Crusader by Travin (4)Arena by Starparty |
These showmatches have multiple benefits for the community. Everyone had a good time, tried out some ideas, and most of all, we are becoming exposed to maps we don't know about.
xOr.GaNg[FP] < oG)zoxxer 0-1 xOr.GaNg[FP] > oG)zoxxer 1-1 xOr.GaNg[FP] > oG)zoxxer 2-1 xOr.GaNg[FP] > oG)zoxxer 3-1 xOr.GaNg[FP] > oG)zoxxer 4-1 xOr.GaNg[FP] > oG)zoxxer 5-1 |
The skill was not quite as lopsided as the score may suggest, because of disagreeable tactics and strategies.
A big thanks to Panschk to organizing this, and to the players. The real importance of these showmatches isn't the players, but rather the maps. The matches were organized solely to give exposure and recognition to the excellent map makers and maps out there that nobody knows about. The melee map community at BroodWarMaps.Net is getting more recognition every day. Another of their successes is that both Comet by trcc and Arena by Starparty are both featured in the new PGTour map pack.
