Sweden - Germany

[subject_nationvsnation]Today 16.00 CET Sweden will play against Germany. We've postponed the game until today from last week due to lack of players. There will be played 5 1on1's and 2 2on2's. Full coverage including replays will be available when the match is finished - and not during the match.

Channels:
Public channel for the match: Op Mazor-sG at Battle.net, Europe. This channel is meant for gamers who wish to follow the event and discuss the happenings as they listen to the radio. The player channel for the match will today be another channel than the public one - the player channel is meant for Team SWE and Team Germany members ONLY. No friends, no fans. Anyone who attemps to join the player channel will be banned. We apologize for this but to make this match played smoothly and on a decent level, we must be able to talk to eachother without spam. I hope you will respect this. Full coverage including replays and an evaluation will be published after the match.

Coverage

It's with great sorrow and anger I write this coverage. I don't have the strength to go into details but I'll try. The match vs Germany had been prepared a long time ago, almost two weeks now. And still, we had the lineup as you can see above. As usual, some players get mad and tell their opponent exactly what he feels for and totally loses his manner. As usual, some players just left the match for personal interests without telling the rest of us. As usual, someone can't play because their equipment (cd, mouse, hardware, keyboard) or anything else is broken and they just can't fix it at the moment. As usual, some players who had confirmed their playing didn't show up. As usual, some of the fans who wanted to get the results just couldn't follow the rules and just had to join the private player channel instead of the public one. And still, they got mad when they were banned from the player channel. As usual, we got a delay of the game since people weren't there in time and map discussions and much more occured. As usual, everybody wants me to handle it all. At the same time. Did I mention I was broadcasting live radio during this?

Well, I closed the radio to handle the situation and Ngine-sG took it over. And at that time, some games had already been started so Ngine started to play some music. The winamp shoutcast server is located at a friend's place who has got much bandwidth. Then suddenly he told us that his parents got mad because they thought that web radio was illegal and forced him to turn it off. So, we closed the radio for obvious reasons - so I can't understand why the whining about the radio occured.

Sweden were losing some games in the beginning and the result was 1-3 to Germany. Britney (who was the only available reserv even though at least 5 reserves had confirmed their playing) took over for Willet (who had computer related problems) and played, but lost, against Fisheye[pG] with 0-2. WhiZ managed to win the first game against Infinity but lost the remaning 2. Dealer lost against Socke[pG], 2 games to 0. I felt really bad about all of it - mostly because of the fact that the manner and appreciation of the Brood War community is all fucked up. People of this community are used to get events, tournaments, replays, news, nation vs nation games and radio etc served by the manservants every day, every night and every time of the year. An example was a few days ago, when we were a bit of inactive (due to the fact that the crew also had taken vacation for a couple of days) we got a comment from a member who told us how much we sucked because we didn't submit any newsposts. Oh yeah? I thought that even creating this website and spending 90% of our spare time hosting WCG SWE, hosting the national team of sweden, updating news, new skins, polls, articles, interviews etc etc were much more than anyone could ask about for free. Well, I know I'm not sticking to the nation vs nation game here but my point is - I'm sick of it. Alright? I'm truly sick of it. Like killing the spirit of good willing in many great admins' minds already isn't enough.

If a community like this should work we have to start making some changes. If we want our loved national teams, if you guys want us to keep working with this you can't just throw it away by unappreciation and lack of interest. Players have to show up! If the players in the national teams themselves aren't that interested - then where's the point in it? Many of you talk about how sad and how strange it is that no one plays brood war anymore. In your opinion the game is the best ever. And then why do many people quit, you think? Well, think about it. And start making something about it before it's too late.

Anyhow, after that UFO + Dealer played some impressive 2on2's (won two of them). TreK took over for DeliCato (who quit earlier after calling Mondragon a pussy, don't know the reason) and won 2-0 against DarkSide. TreK and Daaman had to play the last 2on2. Daaman hadn't been playing for a while and just got home, but together with the King of the hill iG.TreK-PL he played against the clan W13. They lost the two final games but it was close. So close.

Congratulations Germany, for showing nice manner, for a great victory and for making me remove the "Undefeated" text in the logo at Team SWE's homepage. The statistics of Sweden versus Germany is now 1-1 (4-3 both matches).
