Bwsentinel is the name of the anti-hack device for online Starcraft/Brood War games.
It's built for version 1.10 only. Both player in the game should run The Sentinel, but only admin at the server can verify that both of them have it on. The anti-hack will be used in the Team Liquid ladder final tournament and therefore be handed to the players participating in it only. After that, if it works good, it will be available for download. When you start the program with BW it will detect automatically when a game is played.
Throughout the game it will take some information from you, some random snapshots and send them to a specific server. Admins can then look for potential hacks. Hack detections for Maphack, mineral hacks, etc all use the same technique. Its easy to install, its only an ".exe" file for you to run. The snapshots are resized and compressed to an average of 15k per image (which is almost nothing). Once BW is started, BWSentinel should display the "Waiting for game" message.
You're ready to start a game. When the game is started, you should see a message at the top left cornerof the BW window. Messages will display for 3 seconds.
After the game you have 30 seconds to save the replay to your disk. You will see a countdown message at the top left of the BW window, If the replay is saved during those 30s, it will be sent to the game server, the same server that snapshots should be sent to, otherwise it will not be sent. After saving replay BWsentinel goes back to "Waiting Mode"
Currently this anti-hack seems perfect and this is just what Brood War needs, but the fact that hackers will make a new version of maphack after the release of this program is not only a thought, it's almost a fact.
