CIS HoN Tour Finals to feature Turkey competitive debut

Rumours about a push of Garena into the Turkish market have been flying around for quite a while now, now they are confirmed just as the CIS region reveals their plans for their HoN Tour Grand Finals. Not only will Turkey debut on that event, but also will HoN be presented on a very well known stage - Kiev eSports Arena.

The Heroes of Newerth global family is growing these days with S2 Games expanding to China with their partner Jingle, while Garena obviously makes a push into the Turkish market. Today the CIS HoN Tour Grand Finals details got revealed and not only is the location and the prize pool impressive for the growing CIS region, but also the Turkish competitive debut is mentioned.  At the beginning of February - more precise from the 8th to 9th of February - the four best teams from the CIS region and two teams from Turkey will gather in the Kiev eSports Arena to battle for a combined prize pool of $10,000 USD and two coveted spots for the international HoN Tour Finals later in March.

Details like the format or the amount of games that will be presented are not yet determined or released, but some other features were announced. Among the four CIS teams will be Cats Gaming for sure, who have won the first two cycles of the CIS HoN Tour. With those victories they already put enough points on the board to be in the tournament, the other three places are still up for grabs. A look at the current standings reveals that SW4G has the best chances to claim one of the spots as well, while iTS, QaM, Meka and D0RN are slugging it out for the last two seeds. The Turkish race is going to open in January, when the regional qualifier will reveal some talent from the new country and will guide two teams straight to the Kiev eSports Arena.

That very same arena is very well-known in the eSports world, since it is the home of the StarLadder offline finals that are held in the Ukrainian capital for quite a while now. Most recently the hometown heroes of Na'Vi in Dota 2 and the French CS:GO team of VeryGames stood on that stage and celebrated their respective victories of the seventh StarLadder season. In February a CIS or Turkish team will get the same honor as they get to cheer with the live crowd as they get the trophy, their share of the $10,000 USD and a paid trip to the HoN Tour Finals in Bangkok, Thailand.

Short Details:

  • Teams: 4 CIS squads, 2 Turkish teams
