Pencils edge out vdT for SoundBlaster Heroes League spot

The seventh and final qualifier for the NA/EU region has come to an end with Pencils receiving a spot in the Championship Bracket, while the new squad of Vietnamese Dream has to sit and watch on stream - like the rest of us will.

It was the last call for the remaining NA/EU teams to clinch a spot in the SoundBlaster Heroes League in order to compete for the $40,000 USD prize pool in the Championship Bracket. Everyone that didn't already receive and invite or went through the previous qualifiers was eager to utilize this chance, which lead to many known teams signing up and competing. Former Diamond teams like Call It Karma, DoberOnDamp, Another Dimension and the merge team of Vietnamese Dream went into the direct competition of current Diamond Division teams like The Fire Rises, Pencils, Absolute Legends and Clan Milk.

Teams like Absolute Legends, The Fire Rises and Pencils were heading into the tournament as favorites, with possible wildcards like Vietnamese Dream and Clan Milk waiting to produce upsets in the Best of One bracket.

In the end Pencils and Vietnamese Dream fought their way through the brackets, leaving the entire competition behind them. For Pencils the way all the way to the Grand Final went over Slash Defenders, Team Blazin EU and Clan Milk, who actually were able to defeat The Fire Rises the night before. Vietnamese Dream or Fack You Kurdi 2.0 as they are also called had to battle against Yep Yep Yep, Wards Overrated, Call It Karma and Isot Pelit to reach the Grand Final. In that portion of the bracket Isot Pelit was able to defeat the favorites of Absolute Legends to get into the Semis.

So for the second time in a row a Diamond team had to square off with a Gold team in the Grand Final with a spot in the Championship Bracket on the line. Last week Bye Team made the upset happen, this time the Diamond team prevailed rather convincingly. After a clean sweep in the Grand Finals, Pencils is now eligible to join the best teams in the world in order to compete the big championship and the $40,000 USD.

Pencils used Tralfamadore as a ringer in the Grand Finals.

Therefor 14 of the 16 spots are filled with the qualifier of the SEA/CIS region still in full swing. In addition to that team one other lucky team out of the NA/EU region will get the honor of being invited to the event - invited as the last participant. Confirmation which team it will be is going to come in the last couple of days, alongside the SEA/CIS participant.
