Final Four marching into the Day 3 of GSL Qualifier

After a day of sweeps yesterday with all of the favorites putting their opponents away with ease, the competition kicked up a notch today. Several rematches and grudge matches from rivalries build up through several Diamond Cycles.

Unfortunately the day of competition kicked off with a downer, as Absolute Legends announced that they would be forced to forfeit against Trademark eSports. Absolute Legends played one of their best Heroes of Newerth yesterday in the match against We Are Spies and the clash against the undisputed Champions was highly anticipated. Real Life commitments and college classes came in the way and a rescheduling was unfortunately not possible, with the big time difference of the European team in comparison to Absolute Legends as an US West competitor.

The next downer came in the rivalry match between compLexity Gaming and Lions eSports. Those two teams have the tendency to square off at least once every Diamond Cycle and the fortune and momentum recently switched to the Swedish team. In the last three matchups of these two teams, Lions eSports prevailed and either pushed compLexity into the Lower Bracket or completely out of the tournament. Today coL was able to return the favor with a convincing victory on the first map and Lions forfeiting on Map 2.

In another rematch from the last Cycle, Stay Green confirmed their strong form lately with a crushing victory over One Trick Pony. The first map of that duel was a very lopsided victory, the second map was closer, but Stay Green was never really in jeopardy to lose control of the match and the series.

The last bout of the evening was between QsQ and Tt eSports and actually had a little upset feel to it. After a horrible outing in the last HoN Tour Diamond Cycle, Tt eSports bounced back and was able to defeat the highly competitive and favored QsQ as a result. The new roster of Tt eSports seems to pick up the pace fairly quickly and has extended their run in this tournament to at least another day.

As a result Trademark eSports will square off with Tt eSports, a match with some history to it. Back in Cycle 3 Tt eSports was the team that ended the impressive 2 month winning streak of Trademark and pushed them into the Lower Bracket - the only time tdM paid a visit to the HoN Tour Lower Bracket. They never got a chance for revenge in the following cycles, but the GSL Qualifier will finally delivier that clash now.

In the lower portion of the bracket compLexity Gaming will find themselves in a tough challenge on their way back to the top. On the path to the Grand Final and a possible ticket to the big event in Bangkok, Thailand they will now be facing Stay Green. Earlier in the year Stay Green struggled against compLexity and got eliminated out of the first two cycles by the North American organization. Lately Stay Green pulled way ahead though and is definitely looking to squash the competition again.
