Pyromancer has always had that feminine look, hasn't he? The way he jumps when he casts dragonfire, it's like ballet. Soon, you will be able to choose if you want to see Pyromancer as that old, bearded man, or as that slim, cute and sexy woman.
Maliken, the CEO of S2 Games made an announcement yesterday regarding S2's current developmental direction. One thing that stood out was the announcement of the upcoming feature, "Alternate Hero Avatars" as Maliken referred to it. In recent months more and more concept art has been released without any new heroes coming even remotely close to the newly released concept art. Lots of rumors have gone around that Magmus might get a new model like Pollywog did a few patches ago. But now Maliken has released what those concepts are for.
"Alternate Hero Avatars" are all about personal choice. Magmus, for example, since his release in beta, some players have loved the model, some hated it. A few months ago, the official Heroes of Newerth Facebook page released a concept art of a lava scorpion with the caption reading "Should this be Magmus?". Since Magmus' origins are from the DotA hero "Sand King", whose model is just a scorpion, people began to discuss if this was a sign that Magmus was going to undergo a remodel. But nothing happend in the following weeks. The concept art was forgotten... until now.
With this information, we could see alot of new faces in Newerth soon. Magmus is one example, but there is also a picture of a woman engulfed in flames in one of the Facebook pictures with the text "Pyro maybe?". Pyromancer is based on the hero "Lina Inverse" from DotA, a slim, cute and sexy woman. Could this mean that in the upcoming patch we will see an option that allows us to change the models for some heroes? These two model changes likely signal the beginning of a huge project that S2 Games will take on.
As always stay tuned to GosuGamers for latest information on the upcoming patch.
