The four-month odyssey of the ESL Legendary Series Season 2 is nigh its end as the offline playoffs are coming next week.
Since March, Hearthstone players from all over the world have been flocking to the second season of the ESL Legendary Series. With upgraded prize pool and lots of opportunities for up-and-coming players to prove themselves, ESL’s circuit became one of the long-running series to watch.
Next week, it will come to an end. The doors of the Burbank studio in California will open to welcome the sixteen best players of the season, who’ll battle it out for the lion’s share of the $25,000 prize pool. And from the looks of it, this will be another battlefield with multiple David versus Goliath battles.
Some of the most renowned names players qualified from the Legendary Series match days and the subsequent Redemption Tournament. Names like Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy, Aleksandr “Kolento” Malsh, Jeffrey “Trump” Shih and Andrey “Reynad” Yanyuk are among the stars that will draw community’s attention to the Legendary Series finals.
They will be challenged by up-and-coming and/or less televised players. One of the biggest names among them is Season 1 champion Austin “SilentStorm” Li, who barely didn’t make it back and was saved by the Last Chance Open qualifier. SeatStory Cup III runner-up Sebastian “Ostkaka” Engwall, Warrior extraordinaire Andrew “Kitkatz” Deschanel and Paladin revolutionist Case “Koyuki” Kiyonaga are also players to watch.
The double elimination group stage phase is starting June 5th with the playoffs following on June 7th. Group pairings are yet to be determined.
