After Kinguin Pro League, the second league tournament in Hearthstone's history now wraps up its first phase as the NVIDIA Hearthstone Pro/Am Tournament draws closer to the playoffs.
The Nvidia Pro/Am league is split up into a Pro and an Amateur division. 16 players were invited for the Pro division to play a Round Robin, meaning each player faces every other player once. Now that the Round Robin has come to an end, of these players both Cong "StrifeCro" Shu and Thijs "ThijsNL" Molendijk ended with the best records at 11-4. Due to tiebreakers, StrifeCro takes first and Thijs second place. Finishing with an impressive third place with a score of 10-5 is Taiwanese player Kwo-Ping "pinpingho" Ho who is looking to make another splash in the western scene after his performance at the ESL Legendary Series Season One Finals.
However, none of the 16 invited players are out yet. The league matches were only important for seeding, which led to some players naming them "worthless" and also to very interesting and funny games featuring decks such as Pirate Rogue, Fatigue Druid or Murloc Warlock.
Now that the Pro division is all wrapped up, we have to wait for 16 competitors to come out of the Amateur division. This divison will be played out in a Swiss format, but we neither have learned when those matches are going to start nor when the playoffs are supposed to go down.
