The hugely successful Viagame HouseCup will be returning for a second season in a month's time to where its journey started last year - Stockholm, Sweden.
The inaugural Viagame HouseCup was held in October 2014 and easily became one of the most praised events in Hearthstone. Combining the cozy atmosphere of a house-hosted event with a highly strategic format where players needed to bring nine decks and play a game of picks and bans before each match, the HouseCup event was appreciated by players and fans alike. In several interviews for GosuGamers, HouseCup attendees even went out to say that this was the best tournament format they had ever played.
Now, six months after Aleksandr "Kolento" Malsh took the trophy in Stockholm with an uncanny comeback against Jason "Amaz" Chan, Viagame are ready to host another cup. Once again, the event will feature a 50/50 ratio between invites and qualifiers to fill the sixteen available slots. Housecup will also keep the pick-ban format from the last edition, choosing to not go for the more traditional last hero standing on the newly-introduced BlizzCon Conquest formats.
The race for the eight available qualifier spots will starton February 28th with the first qualifier, and another open tournament will follow a week later. The main events itself is going to Sweden's capital March 27-29. Apart from the $25,000 prize pool - $10K of which will go towards the winner - HouseCup will also be awarding a total of 230 points for the Hearthstone World Championship.
