With a formidable 16-3 record, ROOT Gaming's Sebastian "Xixo" Bentert took the $700 first place price of DKMR Cup, overtaking DKMR's own Varranis in the finals.
Xixo was announced as one of the sixteen invites for the DKMR Cup, welcomed to a pool of respected players such as Brian Kibler, Powder, Ignite, Impact, Kaldi, Luigezz, Tranzit, DuckWingFace and more.
Seeded into the top half of the bracket, Xixo was thrown a tough round one opponent in Copenhagen Wolves' Firebat. Although riding the momentum of a 7-0 record from the swiss preliminary round, Firebat could only take one game away from the German and his tournament life was over.
Xixo repeated the 3-1 score in the next round against Schismatron - another player coming from the open qualifiers - and then proceeded to beat down some invite players. Former MYM player Ignite fell in the third round, followed by Fnatic's Kaldi after getting beaten 3-1 and 3-0, respectively.
Qualified for the grand final, Xixo then waited for his last opponent who eventually came to be DKMR's Varranis. The American player had qualified through the swiss preliminaries with a score of 6-1 and had to fight his way through Korea's Tranzit, tournament underdogs Kayce and Redwall and finally against Team Coast's top player Impact in the final, scoreboarding a 12-4 record before the grand final.
This is where Varranis encountered an unbeatable foe - Xixo's Zoo. Through great draws and even greater knife juggles, ROOT's ace won four back-to-back games to crown himself champion.
