The 17 year old Hearthstone prodigy Dima "Rdu" Radu snatched $2,000 after besting Case "Koyuki" Kiyonaga in the Deck Wars S2 grand finals. This is Rdu's third tournament title in the last month.
It's been hectic last couple of days for MYM's ace. After returning from an early exit at WEC in China, Rdu was met with a whole new set of challenges, including school duties and two online tournaments - Deck Wars finals and HearthStats league.
Rdu opened the weekend with a 3-1 victory over Kungen in Deck Wars in a rich on misplays series. In the post-win interview, Rdu confessed he's been feeling exhausted and indeed his stacked schedule took its toll just a few hours later, as Rdu suffered a group stage elimination in HSL.
A day of rest was all Rdu needed, apparently. Returning for day two of Deck Wars, pulled two difficult seven-game series against StrifeCro and Trump before meeting Koyuki in the finals. The Paladin expert himself had already taken the tournament lives of notable playes like Amaz, Gnimsh and Sjow and was looking forward to his first Hearthstone tournament win.
As the game started, Koyuki tasted his own medicine as his Warrior got defeated by Rdu's Paladin. Uther continued to reap heads and eliminated Koyuki's Druid and even his signature Paladin, putting the Romanian on a 3-0 lead. Game four was the only success Koyuki had for the series, finally retiring the Paladin was his Priest, before surrendering the finals to Rdu's Miracle.
Rdu walks $2,000 richer, getting his third championship in the past month after triumphing at Heroes of Cards and HyperX Invitational. Overall, that's the sixth victory in his career, his achievements list also including WEC EU Qualifiers, DreamHack Summer and ZOTAC #23. He's also in pursuit of returning to the GosuRankings throne, after losing it to WEC champion TidesofTime earlier in August.
