Ek0p grabs the TakeTV Invitational gold after a 4:2 team-kill

The German player of team DogeHouse went undefeated through the entire tournament and will be bringing home a $1,500 cheque, leaving team-mate Gnimsh as the runner-up.

Known for him preference towards control builds, Ek0p relied entirely on slow, late-game decks to emerge champion of TakeTV's Hearthstone Invitational. His Shaman helped him secure a 3-2 comeback against Vortex in last night's semi finals and his Druid brought him the 3-1 over Gnimsh in the winners final, pushing him to the tournament finale.

Ek0p eventually met Gnimsh again as the Pole destroyed Vortex in the losers final, going 4-1 on the back of a Druid and Hunter. Entering the series with a 0-1 deficit due to him coming from the losers bracket, odds were against Gnimsh and losing the first series against Ek0p's Shaman didn't make it any easier.

Down 0-2, Gnimsh pulled out a Hunter as a counter to the Shaman deck and managed to put it to a one-game difference but the gap was doubled again as Ek0p's Druid came to rip Rexxar apart. Almost out of options, Gnimsh decided to not go for his signature Zoo but instead pull out the deck he's been hiding all tournament - a miracle Rogue.

Valeera's burst eliminated Ek0p's Druid but a Handlock immediately came from the German player and soon enough Gnimsh was checkmated, with no option to drill through the wall of taunts. A final well played was called and Ek0p came out of the chair with his first major Hearthstone trophy ever.

Ek0p's triumph in Krefeld nets him $1,500. Fellow doge Gnimsh goes home $1,000 richer after his second silver medal at a TakeTV event while bronze finalist Vortex banks $500.
