After his performance at the Blizzard WorldWide Invitational, GosuGamers had a chance to talk to FiSheYe about his gaming career, Poker and his split from ESA.SpeedLink.
Fredrik "FiSheYe" Keitel, the 21 year old German Protoss player, has a long list of accomplishments including 2nd place in WCG 2003 in South Korea. He recently left his sponsored team ESA.SpeedLink and has now joined up with a new sponsor, PokerStrategy.| Max - GG.net-epidiOn says: So you were one of the 8 invited players to WWI. Were you surprised? FiSheYe says: Actually I was on the list for BlizzCon as well, but unfortunately there were only 4 foreigners possible. I think by that time I was a lot better (PGT top5, lots of practice). They told me I might get a chance the next time so I wasn't too suprised when they invited me but I really appreciated it :). Max - GG.net-epidiOn says: Oh okay. Did you practice a lot in preparation for WWI? FiSheYe says: Not at all, I thought my chances would be pretty low and due to a single elimination system I wouldn't be able to play more than 3 games. So I concentrated on other stuff. Max - GG.net-epidiOn says: You ended up performing pretty well taking Nal_Ra to three games though. In the second game, did his proxy gate take you by surprise? What made you decide to counter proxy gate him? FiSheYe says: I was surprised he did it the first time. I should have won the first game, my chances were better than 80% at one time but I missed some important keypoints to victory. I guess the reason why he proxy gated again was that he thought it might work again this time the spots were closer and he had no maingate so I thought I could counter him by outmacroing him. He tried to survive with photons. That made it pretty easy for me to get into a good position. Max - GG.net-epidiOn says: Yeah, you kept pressure on him until you could get dragoons. Nice job in that game. How do you feel about your overall performance at WWI? FiSheYe says: Considering the time invested for practice and my current shape I was suprised to win one game. Analysing the games after they are done it seems as if I was the favourite to win them. So overall I am glad that I managed to give Nal_Ra hard games and I feel a little regret that I didn't take my chances when they were offered. Max - GG.net-epidiOn says: I think everyone was happy that you did win that one game though. What about ESA? There is word going around that you left the team but will still finish SCCL for them. Can you tell us a little bit about that? FiSheYe says: I quit ESA because the offers on my new sponsor were a lot better and suited my own goals a lot better. Well it looks like Poker and StarCraft are finally mixing. Are you planning on dedicating much time to SC in the future? FiSheYe says: I will dedicate less time than I used to do but I will still attend the big tournaments such as ECG, WCG and maybe other huge upcoming things.
