IPL 6 cancelled

Gamespot reports that the sixth installment of the IGN Proleague will not come to pass. This leaves the days between March 28-31 free of premier tournament competition in NA for both SC2 and LoL.

A couple of things preceded this news to make it not entirely surprising. On February 22nd, Kotaku reported that IGN will close several of its subsidiary sites and have been reaching to potential buyers interested in acquiring the IPL brand. Additionally, the Korean qualifiers were cancelled yesterday according to Thisisgame, the newspost also mentioning IGN's restructuring along the lines.

IPL 6 was initially scheduled to take place March 28-31, providing a solid dose of premier tournament content. $75,000 were set for the StarCraft 2 prize pool and 25 out of the 40 players were already determined. In contrast, the cancellation finds one much undecided player and prize pool for League of Legends.

An official statement has still not been made by IPL management.
