Team Spirit knock Virtus.pro out of TI10

Team Spirit has knocked out their second TI10 opponents of the day, Virtus.pro after a thrilling three-game series.

When Team Spirit shut down the European kings, OG, earlier today, they wrote a narrative that solidified the CIS region's growth and hope in the new generation. Progressing further in the lower brackets matched them up against Virtus.pro, ensuring that at least one CIS team would be in the top four at The International — a feat that hasn't happened since Na'Vi in 2013.

Virtus.pro is the youngest team at The International 10 and is fully comprised of TI10 debutants. Team Spirit roster is 4/5 newcomers to TI.

The CIS brawl didn't disappoint.

Virtus.provsTeam Spirit

In the first game, Team Spirit started out applying the pressure with continuous aggression to slow Virtus.pro down.  Despite VP draft scaling up through the game, TS was able to find the fights all over the map and the stunning plays on Monkey King by Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk kept VP always behind and never able to really find their footing long enough.

In the second game Virtus.pro stepped up the tempo and made the first moves in order to gain control of the game. They made sure to shut down Magomed "Collapse" Khalilo to keep Team Spirit in check. Although VP had a substantial lead and the game, TS was not about to give up and made them bleed for the victory to tie up the series.

The third and deciding game was a close call for the most part with both teams fighting for their tournament lives. A pure slugfest, the game was exciting and constantly back and forth. A fight at the Roshan pit about midgame finally opened things up for Team Spirit and they were able to maintain their lead moving forward.

Team Spirit's reads and moves were brilliant and their confidence and aggression carried them through to the victory.

Virtus.pro will walk away with an impressive 5-6th place finish and $1,400,600 in their pockets.
